The Open Sea

Brian's BD card front 2-13 Brian's BD card inside 2-13

In last night's blog post I shared these pictures of this Pop 'n Cut card and talked about the wonders of the Dress Form Pop 'n Cuts and Card Base Pop 'n Cuts dies. Today I want to focus on the stamp set The Open Sea (w-123030, c-123032).

I like this set for several reasons. First, I live on an island in SE Alaska and boats, ships, and ferries are our way of life. There is something very romantic about sailing ships and they speak of adventure.

I love the vintage look of this stamp set as well. Stamp in in Crumb Cake, Basic Grey, or one of our wonderful blue inks. I stamped the compass with Pacific Point ink but stamping it with one of the red inks would also be very vintage.

Finally, I love the versatility of The Open Sea stamp set. It could be used on a Bon Voyage card, on travel scrapbook pages, or for a masculine birthday card like this one. Check out the different images in the index below and then click on the links above to order the set. While you are in my online store, remember to order stamping supplies you are running low on. I appreciater your business.

I needed to make a birthday card for my son and had not used this wonderful and romantic The Open Sea stamp set yet. Actually, I have had my eye on it ever since the 2012-2013 catalog came out but just hadn't purchased it until last month. The ribbon is from the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack (130812) which you can get for FREE with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration.

Have I convinced you that the Dress Form die and the Pop 'n Cuts die are well worth the price because they open a whole new area of creativity for you? You can use them as the support for all kinds of pop-ups. Check out this blog post, and this one for more ideas. Then order them. Terrific Tuesday – Travel Log

Travel Log digital scrapbook page
My husband and I love traveling. He retired from 37 years in education onJune 30, 2008 and we took a couple months traveling in our 5th-wheel trailer. I have always wanted to see Banff and the stupendous mountains in the Canadian Rocky Mountains so that was our first destination.

Due to our love of traveling, I purchased the Travel Log Kit (126022) a long time ago but have not used it until this week. I was using it for a different project and discovered it has some wonderful designer series paper patterns. They inspired this scrapbook page of our trip to the Banff Provincial park. The Travel Log Kit has an embellishment of a couple of clouds with the saying Enjoy the Journey and an image of an airplane on it. Since we took a road trip, that embellishment wouldn't work so well. I used my global search feature of MDS2 to find other clouds in my downloads and chose to use clouds from the Sunshine & Sprinkles Ensemble (130668). I added the text using a Comic Sans MS font. I urge you to check out the various kits available for download. You may not want to use them for scrapbooks but they do contain some wonderful designer series papers, stamp brush sets, and embellishments that can be used in cards. Click on the linked names of the product I used or visit my online store to order this kit and ensemble. If you do order either ensemble, email me a photo of your project and I will feature it on my blog.

Oh, yes…today is Terrific Tuesday! I almost forgot to include the link to the new digital downloads for today. Click here to view them and order the ones you want. You know you want some!!!

Thanks for coming by to visit today. Grap a cup of coffee or tea and relax a bit while browsing through my projects.

Until your next visit…blessings,

Sale-a-Brate with Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper

Sycamore Street Thank YouWhat is Sale-a-Bration, you ask? It is the time of year when Stampin' Up! celebrates with an astonishing offer! From January 22 through March 22, you get to choose exclusive product for free for each $50 you spend. I have used two of those free products on this card.

The designer series paper is one of the patterns in the pack of the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (127540). The butterfly stamp is included in the Bloomin' Marvelous Stamp Set (w-129651, c-129654). What is especially exciting is that this little stamp fits perfectly in the Bitty Butterfly Punch (129406) which can be found in the Spring Catalog. I layered the little butterfly onto the larger butterfly which was punched from Island Indigo card stock with the Elegant Butterfly Punch (127526). I stamped the greeting found in the Perfectly Penned Stamp Set (w-122890, c-122892) onto Whisper White card stock with Calypso Coral ink and cut it out with one of the Window Frames Collection Framelits (129021).

There are so many wonderful FREE items to choose from in the Sale-a-bration brochure (see images below) that you will want to come back again and again to purchase $50 worth of product before March 22 so you can collect many of them. They will not be available after March 22. OR…you can place an order for $100 of product and choose 2 items, or place an order for $150 and choose 3 items and choose $25 worth of hostess benefits. Each order of $150 or more will also get a free package of the Silver Glimmer paper. So….get busy placing your orders through my online store.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all. Yes, I am a little late with this post but I still wanted to send wishes to you. I pulled out all the stops…err hearts in my arsenal of stamps, punches, and embellishments. After getting the card created, I felt he background was a little blah so I added the Natural Composition Overlays – 11 stamp brush in Basic Black.

I expected my dh to have forgotten Valentine's Day because he has been so focused on getting the school budget built for next year and revising this year's budget. But he did good!!! He came home with a very sentimental Valentine's Day card that totally describes our love and life together AND a dozen red roses! It has been years since he has brought flowers home for me.

So I hope all of you, married or not, have had a day filled with love of many kinds.

Hugs and blessings,

Last Minute Valentines – Officially Awesome Valentines

Officially Awesome Valentines
So it is Wednesday evening and you forgot to buy Valentines for your child to take to school in the morning. MDS2 to the rescue! Download the Officially Awesome Valentines Designer Template (133009) and you will be creating Valentines within minutes. The template even includes patterns for the envelopes. I chose to use the wider of the two tags on the Two Tags Stampin' Up! Bigz die (115954) to cut out envelopes from Real Red cardstock. I printed out the cards on Whisper White card stock and cut them apart. Then I created a page of mustaches that had been sized to 3.5" wide and printed it out. I cut out the mustaches, punched a hole in the middle of them and put them on the sucker sticks. When a person sucks on the sucker, the mustache will be in front of their lips…so cute! Have your child sign the cards, put them on the tag and fold it up. Finially stick the end of the sucker into the hole in the tag and you are done! Almost instant Valentines! :o)

I wish you lots of love on Valentine's Day,

Sue Erickson

Woot! Woot! Tea Shoppe Card Featured!

Tea for Two insideI am so pumped up! I emailed my Pop 'n Cut cards to Karen Burniston, the creator of the Card Base Pop 'n Cut die (130099) and Dress Form Pop 'n Cut dies. She asked if she could share my card from this post on her I'm Not Left-Handed blog! My card is part way down the page. I am really honored.

I know the dies are rather expensive and you might not want to make cards with a dress form and dress on the card. However, it is a good base for adding other pop up items. I'd love to get you all thinking of other ways to use the dies. Click on the linked item names to order the dies. Then email me your creations using Stampin' Up! supplies and I'll feature them here on my blog.

Until your next visit…blessings,
Sue

Terrific Tuesday – Happy Mardi Gras!

Mardi Gras digital card

Happy Mardi Gras! My business coach challenged us to write a blog post with a Mardi Gras project so here you are – gold and purple beads with crowns and a green, gold, and purple color theme. This project has 24 layers as each bead was created with a circle punch filled with either gold glimmer paper (132917) or Concord Crush color. The crowns are from the Artistic Etchings stamp brush set (124013). I added the greeting using the Dreamer One font in Concord Crush color onto the Perfect Label Punch (127340).

If you want to give digital designing with My Digital Studio a try, click here to order the FREE 30-day trial of MDS2 (130910). I love using MDS2 and love helping others get as much enjoyment out of using the program as I do. There is no risk involved. If you decide you like the program and want to continue to use it order it either as a digital download or on a disc before the free trial period ends. If you decide digital creating is not your thing, just do nothing and the program will expire after 30 days.

Katie and Bandit – Convetion 2012 Photobook Template

Convetion 2012 Photobook Template
If you have a toddler and a dog in the house, you are quite familiar with the scene in this photo. Heck, we don't have any kids at home but our two very spoiled dachsies sit right at our feet during a meal hoping we will drop a tidbit or share our people food with them. They think almost all people food is a delicacy. :o)

I love the contrast between the shadow in the foreground and the light on our darling great-granddaughter and her dog Bandit. I also love the chalkboard designer series papers and stamps in the Convention 2012 Photobook Template download  (130971) so I used them to highlight this wonderful photo. If you haven't already purchased this download, I urge you to do so by clicking on the link. I think you will love it too. BTW, I used the Chalkduster font for the text.

Thanks for coming to visit today. Come again tomorrow to see what new digital download I choose to highlight.

Until your next visit…blessings,

Oh Whale! Whalecome Baby!

Oh Whale BabyThis is another card I created with the Oh Whale! stamp set (w-129129, c-129132). The striped scalloped strips of Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper (126922) are left over from a different project. I used the Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (127022) for the Baja Breeze background and for the puffy Whisper White clouds.

I used the Stamp-a-ma-Jig (101049) to stamp 'baby' from the saying 'welcome baby' of the Petite Pairs stamp set (w-122495, c-122497) under the Whalecome! saying of Oh Whale! on Whisper White card stock. This fit nicely in the Ticket Duo Punch (126883).

To order the supplies needed for this project, either click on the links or make a list and visit my online store. Thanks for your business. I really do appreciate it.

Thanks for coming by to visit today. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and spend some time browsing my blog. If you live in the area where the blizzard is supposed to hit, I hope you stay warm and don't lose your power.

Oh Whale Valentine’s Day is Coming!

Oh Whale ValentineWe made this Valentine last month at our montly stamping group. I just love this Oh Whale! stamp set (w-129129, c-129132) which came out in the Spring Stampin' Up! catalog. You will be seeing more cards using this cheery little whale in the next few posts. The heart is from the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper (129309). Two sheets of this pack are a sheet of die-cut hearts. One side is either Real Red or Primose Petals and the reverse side is Whisper White.

The background is Primrose Petal Core'dinations card stock (129322) embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (129378) and then sanded with Stampin' Up!'s sanding block.

I cut the greeting out using one of the Bitty Banners Framelits Die (129267). Order your supplies to make this project or anything you have run out of by clicking on the links or visiting my online store.

Thanks for stopping by to visit today. Grab a cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa and take a break from your day while you browse the projects I have to share with you on my blog.

MDS2 + Baby Onsies

Onsies

Did you know that you can use MDS2 to adorn clothing and home decor items? I needed a baby shower gift and the theme of the nursery was owls. There are not many baby items featuring owls in the stores in our town so MDS2 to the rescue. I used the owl embellishment from the Play Date Embellishments digital download (123433) and the branch from the Extra-Large Two-Step Bird Punch (122131) for one of the onsies. I used the MDS2 feature of attaching text to a line to create the wording "Owl – ways Love You." For the second onesie, I used the owl embellishment from the Storytime Ensemble (127195) and the "owl" stamp that is included in that ensemble.

I grouped each owl and its parts then copied and pasted so I had two of each image on my 8 1/2" x 11" paper to economize on transfer paper. I printed it out on a piece of copy paper to check the size of the images, adjusted them to fit on the onsies, and then printed it out on Avery 3271 ink jet Light Fabric Transfers. When you print the page out, be sure to print it as a mirror image so that your wording comes out correctly.

Once printed on the transfer paper, cut the images out and follow the directions that come with the transfer paper.

These onsies were a big hit with the mom-to-be. The were four onsies in the package so I have two more all ready to give at the next baby shower I attend. To create these images for yourself, just click on the linked download names.

I hope this has widened your visions of how you can use MDS2 beyond creating digital cards and scrapbook pages.

Until your next visit…blessings,

I used the Sent With Love Kit which was a new download on Tuesday to create this card. The plane is a stamp from this kit along with the designer series papers I used. The splatter stamp comes with the Game Day Photobook Template download. Pop ‘n Cuts #2 – Oh Whale

Oh Whale Pop 'n Cut cardHere is another card I have made using the Pop 'n Cut Card base (130099) and Dress Form Pop 'n Cut (130100) dies. I used the Hearts A Flutter stamp set (c- 129252, w-129249), Hearts a Flutter Framelits dies (130159), small heart punch (117193), Hearts Collection Framelits die (125599), and Whacky Wishes hostess set on the front of this card.

Nice card so far…well except I normally wouldn't use yellow for a Valentine. This card didn't start out as a Valentine…LOL! But look what is inside…

Oh Whale Valentine pop up inside

It's sooooo cute! I absolutely love this cheerful whale. I really hope it makes it into the 2013-2014 big catalog in June! So how did I use the Dress Frame to make this pop-up card? I just cut off the top of the form even with the top fold line. I put a piece of scotch tape under the rest of the form to make the 'shelf' solid. Then I adhered a piece of the sky pattern in Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper (126922) above the top fold to cover the hole. I cut the top edge of a piece of the wavw pattern along the waves and glued it to the upright supports of the pop-up. Finally I slipped the whale between the dsp and the horizontal 'ledge'.

Order your own dies by clicking on these links:

Card Base Pop 'n Cuts die (130099)

When you receive them, have fun creating your versions of pop-up cards. Finally, email photos of your creations to me and i'll feature them on this blog.

Thanks for coming to visit today. Come back again soon. I have several more ideas for these dies that you won't want to miss.
