Retirement List Help

Link to the Stampin' Up! 2015 retirement lists

Have you been to the Stampin’ Up! site to see the retirement lists yet? If so you may be as frustrated as I am by the very small print. Click 2015_Retiring-LargePrint_Alpha to see the retirement list in large print and by page number and 2015_Retiring-LargePrint_Alpha to see the list in large print and in alphabetical order. Then click on the image above to order those things you want.

Warning:

The availability of stamps is guaranteed if you order by May 26 but accessories are on an ‘as supply lasts’ basis and most of the 2013-2015 In Color papers, inks, and refill inks have already sold out. So have the Heart Collection Framelits. The packs of selected individual colors in 12 x 12 size are being discontinued and have also sold out already.

I highly recommend you waste no time in checking out the retirement lists and placing your orders now! When you do order, use the Hostess Code EURP4CUG and I will send you a free gift for ordering from my online store.

Paper Pumpkin sale imageFinally there is a third way to order $50 to get a free SAB item and this one also ends tonight! Preorder a 3 month subscription to Paper Pumpkin, a monthly stamping surprise in the mail, and get $5 off for the three month subscription. There is no limit to the number of three month subscriptions you can purchase at this sale price so order four and get a $20 savings for the whole year! You just use one subscription at a time.

Why get a subscription to Paper Pumpkin? Do you

  • like to get a surprise in the mail? Each month you will receive a complete paper crafting kit which will be an exciting surprise.
  • have limited space for crafting supplies? Everything you need to create the monthly project are included in the kit.
  • Have limited time to spend creating fun projects? These projects are quick and can easily be completed in about 1/2 hour. Plenty of time for a little ‘me’ time while your baby sleeps.

Then Paper Pumpkin is for you. I’ll be happy to get you started but do take advantage of this sale price while it lasts!

Only a few days left!

Paper Pumpkin sale imageWhat is Paper Pumpkin you ask? It is a monthly subscription to a creative kit from Stampin’ Up! Each month you receive in the mail this cute pre-cut cardstock, ink and stamps, and embellishments are provided along with detailed directions for completing the project. Each month is a different project. Sometimes it is a card, sometimes a journal, and sometimes a party decoration. A Paper Pumpkin subscription is perfect for you if you

  • have little space to store a lot of crafting supplies
  • have little spare time but really like to do paper crafting because most of the projects can be completed in about 30 minutes
  • love getting fun things in the mail
  • love getting a surprise every month

During Sale-A-Bration, a three-month prepaid subscription is on sale. Not only is it on sale but the sale price is over $50 so you also get to choose one of the Sale-a-Bration free items. You can purchase more than one three-month prepaid subscription for more savings. That is what I did. I bought two of them. When your order is processed, you will receive an email with a code number to use when you access your prepaid purchase. If you order more than one three-month prepaid subscription, you will receive a separate code for each three-month subscription. Be sure to save those codes as you will enter the second code to access your second three month when the first subscription expires. If you bought 4 of these at the sale price, you would save $20 over the 12 month prepaid subscription price. And you would get to choose 4 free Sale-a-Bration items. What a great deal is this?! But you must hurry and place your order with me or through my online store by next Tuesday evening. Click on the image above for more details and to order.

Heartfelt Thank You

handmade thank you cardI was asked this week to make a large, very large thank you card for our church choir director. I convinced the person requesting this that a card with several pages inside would work better than a very large card. This card is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ card with two additional sheets of Whisper White cardstock inside.

The outside is a sheet of Painted Bloom designer series paper (137784). I created the greeting in MDS and printed it out on a scrap of the reverse side of this flower design. Then I cut it out with one of the Labels Collections Framelits (125598).

I layered pieces of music cut from an old song book on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out with the largest size die of the Hearts Collection (125599), the scalloped one. I used glue dots on the scallops to adhere some retired pleated ribbon around the heart and then mounted it on the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. To make this card yourself, you can trace around that scallop heart die and cut it out with your paper snips to make a mat for the heart in place of the ribbon. A few Pearl Basic Jewels (119247) gave added interest.

I stamped ‘from all of us’ from the Crazy about You stamp set (w – 138856, c – 138859, p – 137137) with Wild Wasabi ink on the first Whisper White page and adhered ‘Thank’ and ‘You’ cut out of Wild Wasabi with the Hello You Thinlits Dies (137363) (bundle of Crazy about You and Hello You Thinlits available, see below) underneath the stamping.

I held the cover and inside pages together with a length of retired gold cord tied around the spine of the card. Since this is a larger card, I used a sheet of Painted Blooms and the Envelope Punch Board (133774) to create an envelope.

To order the supplies I used for this card, just click on the linked photos below.

So Much To Share

This is Terrific Tuesday and there is so much to share!

There are new digital downloads. I created this digital card with two of them, So Very You (138156) and Kinda Eclectic (138154).

Terrific Tuesday…almost.

Yes, today is Tuesday and we do have new Weekly Deals to make the day exciting. However, it is with sadness that Stampin’ Up! has announced that they are discontinuing all Blendabilities and will not be offering them in the near future. Too many of the alcohol markers were drying out even before they were sold due to microscopic holes in the casings. So Stampin’ Up! made the difficult decision to not carry them any longer. They are proud of the quality of their products and could not in good conscience continue to sell a product which couldn’t be depended on. I am proud to be part of a company who is so conscientious about providing the best quality products to their customers!

So now what do you do? Below is a chart to guide you, Not all Blendabilities are defective so if the ones you already have are working fine, continue to enjoy them while they last. All alcohol markers will eventually dry out. That is the nature of these markers.

table about what to do with backordered Blendabilities Now what do we do for coloring in images? I truly loved using my Blendabilities and hope in the near future Stampin’ Up! is able to create a way for us to carry some other brand of alcohol marker. Meanwhile, we can go back to using Blender Pens (102845), our Stampin’ Write markers, and Aqua Painters 103954). You can pick up ink from the markers with the blender pens. Or you can squeeze the lid of a stamp pad to pick up some of the ink on the lid. Then use an Aqua Painter or blender pen to transfer that ink to your image. Alternately you can add a drop or two of reinker to the lid of your stamp pad and the pick it up from there to paint your image.

Enough of the sadness, on to the new Weekly Deals. You can see them below. Just click on the photo to get more details and remember that these prices last only through Monday night so order the ones you want now. Procrastination will cause you to miss out!

Do it now since these prices are only good through Monday night.

There are also new digital downloads for MDS. They come out the first Tuesday of each month. I chose to order the Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper and the Balloon Bash stamp brush set and created this card just for you. If your birthday is today, that is. :op

Digital birthday card using the new Birthday Bash designer series paper and Balloon Bash stamp brush setWhat really attracted me to the Balloon Bash stamp set are the flourishes in the images. I Used the color picker to color the greeting to match the color in the background. Then I double clicked on the image and used the color tool to color the flowers Melon Mambo and the leaves Pear Pizzazz. Click on the supplies to order the ones you need to make this card.

From the Herd

The stamp set From the Herd makes me giggle each time I see it! I am so happy I bought it because I get such a kick out of it when I use it. I hope the recipients of my cards enjoy it as much as I do. I created this belated birthday card for our son whose birthday is on Sunday. Being an accomplished procrastinator, this is Friday and I just remembered again that his birthday is March 1. I remembered last week but didn’t take the time to make a card then. But…From the Herd is perfect for this card!

handmade birthday card using the From the Herd stamp set and blendabilities markersThe inside of the card says, “hope it was great!” I made a card for a friend last week with this set that says, “just looking in on you…” I left the inside blank and wrote a note of encouragement to her. I colored the images with Blendabilities, the alcohol markers Stampin’ Up! sells. I love them because the inks are more transparent than our Stampin’ Write markers and the inks blend together much easier. I know that I need to work more on my blending but I wanted to share this card even though my blending isn’t perfect. My motto for this year is ‘Get It Done’ so I have to compromise on doing things perfectly. :o)

Unfortunately, Blendabilities are not available right now as there have been some quality issues with the manufacturer. Stampin’ Up! stands behind everything they sell so they have pulled the Blendabilities until the quality issues are cleared up. However, you can purchase any of the other supplies I used for this card by clicking on the images below. I appreciate your business.

Don’t forget that this is Sale-A-Bration time and you get to choose a free item exclusive to the Sale-A-Bration brochure for each $50 of product you purchase through March 31. To make it even more exciting, Stampin’ Up! has added four new free items available March 1 – March 31. Check them out below:

Valentine Treat Bag Redo

Mini Treat Bag with Balloon Bash stamp set

Sometimes we find leftover cards or 3-D items laying around on our stamping table just waiting to be repurposed. This treat bag started out as a Valentine one but didn’t send it. Tonight I sat down to make a Birthday card for a dear friend and saw this treat bag lying there.

I had planned to turn it into a pocket card so I stamped the largest image from the Balloon Bash stamp set on a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock cut to fit in the treat bag. When I turned the treat bag over I discovered that I had written on the back of it. What to do? Well, I just glued the image on the back to cover the writing and will put some treats inside the bag instead of a card.

Back of Mini Treat Bag with Balloon Bash stamp set

I stamped the HB image on Whisper White cardstock and cut it out with one of the Chalk Talk Framelits. Then I put it over the black and white banner on the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals to cover some adhesive that was on the front. As usually happens, I love the redo better than the original plan!

The moral of this story is that covering up perceived flaws in our creations often leads to even better creations! If you would like to create this treat bag for yourself and need some of the supplies I used, just click on the images below to be taken to them in my online store.

On the Tilt – MDSM101

Digital birthday scrapbook page with Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper

Today I have for you a scrapbook page I created of our great-granddaughter’s 4th birthday party for the MDS Monday challenge 101. The challenge is to put the elements on an angle. You can see the sketch here.

The sketch suggested birthday candles but upside down so I went with that theme. I created a photo frame and then copied and pasted it 6 times, narrowing the width of four of them so all seven would fit on the page. Then I discovered I couldn’t fill them with designer paper so deleted 4 and created rectangle punches which I filled with various patterns of Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper (137077). I grouped the rectangles, photo frames, and candle flames together and then rotated the group -14 degrees. So where did I get the candle flames? They are the wing of the Extra Large-Two Step Bird Punch (122131).

I wanted to use Pear Pizzazz for the background but it was too strong a color and overpowered the rest of the layout. So I made the background Whisper White. Then I applied a 12″ square punch over the Whisper White and filled it with Pear Pizzazz and reduced the opacity to about 65% opacity. Of course, I don’t like flat backgrounds so I added the Decorative Overlays Stamp Brush Set (129880) – starburst and colored it with Daffodil Delight. I love the way it brightens the page.

I discovered something today that I have overlooked ever since the MDS2 came out. In the Resource Palette is a tab for layers. It shows all the layers you have on your project. You can click on a particular layer and it will allow you to work with that layer without bringing it to the front! How did I miss that? Think of all the time I could have saved by just clicking on a layer I wanted to adjust. Maybe the rest of you already knew that and I am just a little slow but this discovery excites me. :o)

So I challenge you to take part in this MDSM101 sketch and post it to the MDS Monday website. Let’s see what you come up with.

For Your Valentine

I have been busy making Valentine treat bags using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits dies for our grandkids and great-grandkids and got the last of them mailed off so they will arrive in time. I was in such a hurry to get them mailed that I didn’t get a picture of them. That’s the story of my life. :o(

However, I did get a scan of this quick Valentine I made to enclose for one of the parents of our greats.

Quick handstamped Valentine using Sweetheart Punch and Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper StackThis card is so quick to create. I wrapped the strip of designer series paper from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack with retired white grosgrain ribbon. The greeting is from the You Plus Me stamp set, stamped on Whisper White with Real Red ink, and punched out with the Sweetheart punch. You can order the stamp set and paper stack as a bundle and save 15%. :o) I added a couple of red glimmer hearts for some bling and the card was done! Click on the image below to order any of the supplies you need to make this card for yourself.
