Welcome to My Digital Craft Corner this Monday! Our mission as a design team of Utah Divas International was to use either stripes or polka dots in our creations. I have had this picture of our grandson and his new baby daughter for a while and have wanted to make a scrapbook page for it. I choose this striped designer series paper from the Candy Cane Lane Designer Series paper for the background of this page to coordinate with baby Katherine's clothing. The Candy Cane Lane paper was from last year's Holiday Mini catalog but with My Digital Studio it is still available by purchasing the Candy Cane Lane Photocard Digital Kit. Welcome to My Digital Craft Corner this very windy, stormy Monday here in SE Alaska. We had lovely snow this past week and it really put me in the Christmas spirit. Now the winds and the rains have washed the snow away and we are back to the dark and gloomy days of SE Alaska winters.

What does CASE stand for, you may ask? It stands for Copy And Steal Everything on a card or scrapbook page. It is a form of high honor in the stamping world. Today the design team for My Digital Studio Monday on Utah Divas International was to copy a sample from the Stampin' Up! 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog or the Holiday mini catalog.

The card I CASEd is on page 43 of the big catalog.It is a long, skinny card. That shape is not an option on My Digital Studio at this time so this is what I did. I created my card using the portrait trifold card like this:

Then I exported it as a jpeg to my computer. Next I opened the file in Photoshop Elements 9, rotated the card and cropped it to just the top third of the card. If you wanted to actually print out and send this card, move the composition to the middle third of the card. You would have to block out the top portion of the Top Note Shape and stamped image by covering it with a rectangle punch filled with Cherry Cobbler color to match the background.

Before starting my stint in the kitchen cooking the turkey and all the trimmings for dinner, I wanted to take time to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving Day. I hope you have a wonderful time with family and friends and that your travels may be safe ones. I am excited because we have snow for Thanksgiving! It is unusual to get snow here in SE Alaska by Thanksgiving. We usually don't even have snow at Christmas. This is not good for all those who were trying to fly to the lower 48 for the holiday but it is great for me and kids here. They will have a long weekend to enjoy sledding.

I am grateful for all you, my faithful readers and customers. I also want to give thanks to God for my loving family, the comforts of home, my good friends, and all the blessings He has so freely given me. I invite you to leave a comment as to what you are expecially thankful for this year.

Our mission today was to share our turkeys. I took that to mean to create a turkey, not to share a project that turned out poorly or a 'turkey'. I used a variety of punches to bring this turkey to life and added one of the leaf vein stamps from the Build a Blossom stamp brush set to each feather. I colored the stamp with the same color of the feather using the color picker feature and added the drop shadow for a little bit of dimension.

Here in SE Alaska, the fall colors have already disappeared but God offers us glorious fall colors in our sunsets. This sunset occurred in January. When we were given the color challenge of Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie, and Daffodil Yellow, I was in a little quandry as I don't have the typical Fall pictures. Then I remember all the beautiful colors of our sunsets and knew exactly what image would be my focal point of this 8" x 8" scrapbook page. Since the photo says it all, I just added three strips of ribbon and a frame around the journaling. I created the frame by layering an Early Espresso-filled Merry Medallion punch over one filled with daffodil yellow. I first tried a pumpkin pie-filled punch and a daffodil yellow-filled punch but the colors were too strong. I really love the thin daffodil yellow border which mimics the daffodil yellow mat around the photo. The beauty of the forests, water, and sunsets of SE Alaska more than make up for the isolation and the 130+ inches of precipitation we get every year.

This weekend Stampin' Up! hosted a digital scrapbooking celebration on www.mydigitalstudio.net. Actually it continues through today and you can still get the FREE download if you haven't already done so. On October 4, they released two downloads for Christmas tags. I could have quickly used one of those templates for this tag but I wanted to create my own. I love the Perfect Label Punch, the Deck The Halls Designer Series Paper, and the Bells and Boughs Stamp Brush Set so used them for this tag. Can you believe it? Halloween is here and Thanksgiving and Christmas are not far behind! Creating this card with My Digital Studio was an easy job! There is no mess to clean up and no clutter to put away. I hope you have a good time greeting all the little goblins that come visiting tonight. The teachers in our school district have inservice days today and tomorrow so they don't have to try to teach kids that are on a sugar high. That gives me almost a 4 day weekend. Whoohoo! I plan to get caught up on some online classes I have been taking and finish a quilt block I have been working on.
