Artistic License

Red-winged Blackbirds At a workshop last Sunday we made this owl card. Brynn Bolling took artistic license using the given supplies and came up with a beautiful card with the birds from the Two-Step Bird punch instead of owls. I was so impressed with the card that I recreated it here for you. I wanted to use more of the beautiful Glimmer paper so I changed the wings to glimmery red. Now we have red-winged blackbirds. :o) Thanks for the idea, Brynn!

Thanks for coming to visit. I love having company here at the Soggy Stamper. Emjoy a virtual cup of coffee or tea with me…my choice is a latte! Before you leave, please leave a comment so I know you have been here.

Stamping 411 Saturday

Botannical Gazette If you have been following my blog for long, you would know that I enjoy playing along with the operators at Stamping 411 in their weekend sketch challenges. Here is my sample for this week. The colors that ended up in this card were determined from the Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper I wanted to use. I normally would not have chosen these colors but I love the end result. The only stamping on this card is the sentiment which comes from the Great Friend stamp set.

Thanks for coming to visit today. I wish I could offer you a virtual cup of coffee or tea and sit awhile with you. Leave a comment so we can at least chat.

Happy Stamping,

Sue

What to do when you need to make a card and your stamping table is such a mess that you don't have even a foot of space to stamp? You turn to your computer and My Digital Studio!

This stamp room never gets messed up…well, you might have to clean out some files once in a while so you don't run out of memory space…LOL! Anyway, I wanted to stamp today but didn't have the time to clean up a space so here is what I created with My Digital Studio.

Stampin' Up! released a lot of My Digital Studio downloads during January and I am excited about playing around with them. If you haven't purchased My Digital Studio yet, what is keeping you from it? The program is easy to use and the creative possibilities are limitless! Click here to purchase your own copy.

This is the card we made at the workshop last Sunday. I rarely CASE anything but I couldn't pass up this card originally made by Laurie Gibson. I did change the little heart she had on her card to a heart punched from Glimmer paper using the smallest heart of the Heart to Heart punch. I also changed out the sentiment using the sentiment from Short and Sweet instead. Stop by my online store to purchase the supplies needed to make this card. My store is open 24/7!

Thanks for coming to visit today. Did you take time to have a cup of coffee or tea with me?

Matchless Love!

Valentine Match Box copy

My offering for you today is a 3-D project that my stampers made at last Sunday's workshop. The Stampin' Up! matchbox die is a quick and easy to make little treat holders for your friends and loved ones. The matchboxes can be made from card stock or from designer papers. I have done both. This time I used card stock and embellished the top with hearts punched from Glimmer paper. I also used one of the three tags that also comes on the matchbox die. You can get a lot of conversation heart candies in one of these cute little boxes! If you don't already have this die, hurry over to my online store to order one. If you order soon, it will arrive in time to make these little 'Matchless Love' boxes. Thanks for stopping by to visit today and come back tomorrow to see what else we made at the workshop.

What first drew you to stamping?

Thanks for Caring

I was thinking today about what drew me to rubber stamping in the first place. I remember back many years ago when my daughters were young noticing a small section of rubber stamps in a local store. The owner of the store showed me how to use embossing powder. I was mesmerized and, still am, by the crystals melting and changing into this smooth raised surface.I bought two stamps, a couple of ink pads and some embossing powder and went home to be mesmerized. Back then we didn't have heat tools so I tried melting the embossing powder over an iron. That didn't work too well. Then I tried using a hair dryer. Well you know what happens then….embossing powder everywhere but where you want it! Finally I resorted to melting it over the burner of our electric cook stove. That did work if you were careful not to scorch the paper. Heat embossing is still my most favorite technique. I heat embossed the greeting and image on this card with a mixture of Iridescent Ice and White embossing powder. Visit my online store to purchase the supplies to make this card. If you try heat embossing be sure to use an Embossing Buddy to reduce static so the embossing powder sticks only to the ink.

Now it is your turn. Leave a comment telling us what first drew you to stamping. Thanks for visiting today and do come again soon.

Happy Stamping,

Sue

January 25 — Opposite Day!

Notably Ornate black and white

This sounds like something that the student council at the school where I work would declare. It is actually a recognized day nationwide. In honor of Opposite Day, I have created this black and white card…total opposites. Now this is greatly out of my comfort zone for colors but the color combination takes little thought. This stamp set Notably Ornate also makes this card very easy to do and very elegant. I used the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder to add texture to the black layer. All of this is mounted on a Whisper White base which is barely visible in the scan. I am sure you, dear reader, can do a better job of a black and white color combination than I have. Email me a photo of your card and I will share it here. Thanks for visiting today. Do leave a comment…I love comments!

Happy Stamping,

Sue
