Only 3 Days Left!

Petite Pocket Gift Card HoldersThat is…3 days left to order from the Holiday Mini Catalog! Some items in the catalog are being carried forward into the Spring catalog and are listed on page 36 of that catalog. However, the Snowflake Flurry Bigz Die is not one of those items. I'm hoping it will appear in the new 2013-2014 big catalog as I really love it. But don't take your chances! If you don't already own the die, order it today while it is still available.

Here are three gift card holders I made using the Snowflake Flurry Bigz Die (127813), Silver Glimmer Paper (124005) and Snow Festival Designer Series Paper (126908). I used the Petite Pocket Bigz Die (123131) as the starting point of the holder. The gift cards were too big to fit in the pocket so I altered them by folding the dsp in half lengthwise and placing the fold just inside the right-hand side of the die. I also wanted the pocket to be taller so I folded the dsp down at the top and put that fold just under the top edge of the die. I know I haven't explained this very well. I'm thinking I should make a video showing how to do this. I'll post the video when I get it done.

There are lots of wonderful items that are being carried over in the Spring catalog but some of my favorites like the Candlelight Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper (126901), Snow Festival Designer Series Paper (126908) and the Scentsational Season stamp set bundled with it's corresponding Holiday Collection Framelits (w-129945, c-129946) will not be available after Jan 2. Place your order now so you don't miss out! Either click on the linked name of the item or visit my online demo store.

Thanks for being a faithful reader of this blog during 2012. I look forward to sharing more ideas with you in 2013. May the new year bring you fresh blessings in abundance each day.

Until next time…blessings,
Sue

Christmas Day card 2012-001
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Background – Night of Navy card stock; stamp set – Come to Bethlehem (123963), punches – curvy square punch from Convention 2012 Photobook Template (130971) filled with Night of Navy color, 1.25" square punch (comes with MDS2) gold Glimmer Designer Series Paper (132917)

Our big Christmas celebration will be on the 27th when all the grandkids and great-grandkids can be here so this morning has been very laid back. After opening our stocking gift and the adult gifts, I have time to play with My Digital Studio. I love that it is sooooo easy to carry with me on vacation! I have created this card to remind us,amidst all the wrappings and presents on the floor, that Jesus is the reason we celebrate. I hope you all will take a little time spent in adoring Him.

Until next time…Christmas blessings,

Glimmery Christmas Card

Champagne Glimmer card-001
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); background – Whisper White card stock; Paper – Gold Glimmer Designer Series Paper (132917); Punches – 1 1/4" square (comes with MDS2), Merry Woodcuts from Merry Woodcuts Digital Kit (132617), Medallion (created by me)

Tuesday's downloads were really terrific! Check them out here. I was especially excited by the glimmer paper in gold, red, and silver. A fellow demo on one of my yahoo groups had made a Christmas card traditionally with Champagne Glimmer Paper and Whisper White card stock. I love that combination and absolutely HAD to create a similar one digitally. I created the medallion punch from the medallion stamp brush set (118124) when it was a png file using this procedure: mydigitalstudio.net/forum/topics/tutorial-for-creating-punches-from-mds-stamps. Part of the discussion in this post pointed out that you can just copy and paste a svg stamp set into your punches file in MDS2. The medallion stamp set is now a .svg file which will be much easier to do than the way I did it. I checked out the new way using the tree from the Bright Hopes stamp brush set (127764). The card below is the results of my experiment.

Champagne Glimmer card-002
It is so easy to convert stamps to punches now as long as they are .svg stamps (the ones that come with MDS2+ and all downloads since the introduction of MDS2). I tried to use the Dasher stamp brush set but it isn't a .svg file.

I like both of these cards. Which do you like best? If you decide to use a stamp brush set as a punch, I'd love to see what you create. Just email me your card or scrapbook page and I'll share it here.

Until next time…Christmas blessings,

Sue

Christmas Is A Coming!

Trees on door

Tree Ornaments on Door

3-d Christmas tree ornament

Close-up of Tree

Last week during Stampin' Up!'s Online Extravaganza, I offered a gift with purchase of a handmade ornament. These are the ornaments I am sending to those who placed an order. I received one similar to this in a swap at convention this summer. There was no name on the ornament or else I lost the tag with the name. If this was your swap, let me know and I will give you the credit. I cut out three circles from the Candlelight Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper (126901) using the retired Clear Circle Bigz Die, the 3" Circle Bigz die (122125), and the 2" and 1" circles from the Circles #2 Originals Die (114526). The circles are folded to create the shape and fitted together. I cut two stars from Silver Glimmer paper (124005) using the star framelit from the Holiday Collection Framelits Die (127814). The garland is cut from the Silver Glimmer paper using the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch (118874) and I punched the ornaments from Red Glimmer Paper (121790) and Champagne Glimmer Paper (127885) using my retired 1/4" punch. I used 1/8" Real Red Taffeta ribbon (119251) for a hanging loop.

These were such fun to make and may make more. They would be fun to include with our annual Christmas letters.

If you need any of the supplies I used to make these little trees for yourself, just visit my online store or click on the linked names.

Until next time…blessings and happy Christmas creating,

Sue
