My New Year Business Resolutions

image of a New Year's Resolution list

Do you make New Year Resolutions? Yes, I know they often are broken even before a week has passed. However, unless you have some resolutions or goals to work towards, you wander around aimlessly. Writing them down is important so the list keeps you coming back to what you set as a goal.

So here are my business resolutions for 2016:

  • Post at least 3 times a week to this blog
  • Post at least daily to Facebook
  • Contact all my customers at least quarterly
  • Actually mail out the cards I make

Now here comes your part. Keep me accountable! Please! Leave a comment on my blog and facebook posts often so I know you are checking up on me. Thank you in advance.

Here’s to a prosperous and happy New Year for all of us.

Yikes…only 4 days until Christmas!

Are you running out of ideas of what to write in the inside of those last-minute Christmas cards? Here are a few ideas for you:

  • Warm Wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
  • May You Have Great Joy As You Celebrate The Birth of Our Savior
  • May memories of Christmases past  lighten your heart this Christmas (for someone who has had a loved one die this year)
  • Merry Christmas! So glad you are part of my life.

And here is a card in which to write one of these greetings.

Can you say “SALES”?

'sale' picture

Yes, I said SALES! First, you must check out this week’s Weekly Deals! The Precision Base Plate is on sale this week. This is a new plate introduced in the Holiday catalog that is made of metal so that you get extra fine cuts when cutting with more detailed dies. I tried it at convention and did like the way it cut. The little pieces still have to be removed by hand but wait!. In the new Occasions catalog you can purchase the Big Shot Die Brush which removes the small cut pieces from the dies by just rolling over the die before you remove the paper. It comes with a foam pad which collects the little chads. You will be able to purchase this beginning Jan 5th. The two products work together beautifully and will end your frustrations when using the detailed dies. Get the Precision Base Plate this week while it is on sale. The quantity that has been set aside for the sale price will go quickly so don’t delay. Click here to order it! There are other great items in this week’s Weekly Deals. Check them out below!

I also want to give you a heads up. Stampin’ Up! is holding a Year End Sale beginning Thursday. Selected items will be up to 60% off. Be sure to check this out tomorrow as quantities will sell out quickly!

White Christmas View

Christmas card created with White Christmas stamp set, Hearth & Home Thinlits dies, and Christmas Greetings Thinlits dies

This scene from White Christmas has been sitting on my stamping desk since last Christmas when that stamp set first came out. I am so happy that it didn’t retire so I could use it again this year. I love the versatility of the Hearth & Home Thinlits dies and how so many stamp sets work as the view out the window. There is even a new coordinating stamp set coming out in the new Occasions catalog!

There is an oops on this card. I cut the scene out with the window framelit not thinking about the fact that the window panes would be cut out. I ended up with four pieces of the scene! Not to worry though, they pasted into the pane sections just fine. :o)

This card expresses my greatest Christmas wish this year…may you all and the world rest in peace this Christmas season and the year to come. You will find the items I used in this card listed below.

Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper After Halloween?

Yes! This is one of the great things about the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper (139584). One side of each piece of the paper has a subtle design that can be used almost any time. I needed a sympathy card for a friend and wanted to use my new Vintage Leaves stamp set and Leaflets Framelits bundle that I finally ordered. It didn’t arrive in time for Thanksgiving cards but I think it works well for this sympathy card. What do you think?Sympathy card using Vintage Leaves stamp set and Happy Haunting Designer Series PaperSo take another look at the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper and see what other ways you can use it besides Halloween. To order any of the supplies I used for this card, just click on the images below. And remember…for each $50 your order at one time, you can check off one box on my Soggy Stamper Customer Appreciation form. You can find and download the form here.

Gentle Peace Christmas Card

Handmade Christmas Card using Gentle Peace stamp set

Last Christmas, Jan Tinklenberg created a card using this Gentle Peace stamp set and mounted the image on glitter paper after stamping it and coloring it on a window sheet. I knew then that I needed Gentle Peace and this technique for our Christmas cards this year. I have been saving the stamp set all year and finally put ink to it.

One of the best features of Stampin’ Up! products is that they work together so well. This card is a prime example of this. Since the image is a stained glass window, I stamped it onto a window sheet with Black Stazon ink. (I later experimented and the new Basic Black ink also works well on window sheets.) Then I colored the back side with my retired Blendabilities and mounted it onto Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper with Fast Fuze. Finally, I trimmed both layers.

Since this is a church window with light shining through it, I needed a background suggestive of the outside of a church. I considered several options and then remembered the Brick Wall embossing folder I just had to have. A little Tip Top Taupe sponging on the embossed Tip Top Taupe cardstock did the trick. A window box stamped on Soft Suede with Soft Suede ink and the greens stamped  on Mossy Meadow cardstock with Mossy Meadow ink are from the Festive Fireplace stamp set and were cut out using the Festive Fireside and Hearth & Home Thinlits Dies. See what I mean about how everything works together? You can order the supplies I used by clicking on the images below.

Stars, stars, stars!

Are you a person who loves stargazing? Do you know someone you want to recognize as a ‘star’ in your life? Then you will love this card I created for a friend who has won a grant she wrote. This is the third grant in a row she has written.

handmade congratulation card using stars framelits and Lucky Stars embossing folder

The sentiment was created on my computer using the retired MDS software program. I used the greeting “Huge Congrats” from the Watercolor Wishes kit on the inside of the card. Have you tried the thick Whisper White cardstock yet? You really should because it is perfect for card bases. I used it for the card base on this card but used the regular Whisper White for the banner. I think the lighter weight cardstock curls better. I cut the banner using the framelit from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies. See…you get a variety of dies with these sets of framelits that can be used in all sorts of projects! They give you so much value for the price.

To order the supplies you need to make this card yourself, just click on the images below.

The Lucky Stars embossing folder and Stars Framelits were on the Weekly Deals a couple of weeks ago. If you are not checking them out each Tuesday, you are really missing out on some great deals. Here are this week’s deals. Click on the image to go to my online store.

Advent Tree Class to Go

Happy Business Woman Day!

I love owning my own paper-crafting business and being a business woman. I have been a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator for 14 years and yes I have owned my own business for that long. I still get a thrill when I teach a class or workshop for someone. I still get a little excited when I log on to the demonstrator website to get the latest company news, track my monthly sales, or track the progress of an order, and I still get really excited when I gather with fellow demonstrators at Stampin’ Up! sponsored gatherings for demonstrators.

The term ‘business woman’ most often brings up images of a woman in a suit with a briefcase sitting at a desk in an office or as this woman is doing, having a working lunch. Often, this type business woman works for a corporation where her hours and duties are determined for her.

In contrast, owning my own paper-crafting business gives me:

  • the flexibility to decide for myself how many hours I work each day
  • when I will go to work and when I will have family time
  • the ability to set how much money I earn without having to have someone else’s approval
  • the ability to set my own goals and hold myself accountable for reaching those goals

in other words…being my own boss!

In addition, I get to work with product I love and with others who love being creative. This make work fun!

You to can be a business woman and own your own paper-crafting business for an investment of just $99.  I’d love to have you join me as a demonstrator on my team. I will give you superb support as you develop your business. You don’t have to be particularly crafty at first. I will enjoy teaching you (that is what I do best) and helping you develop your crafting skills as well as your business skills. You will also have the support of Stampin’ Up! and all the training available from them.

Does this sound interesting? Contact me for more information or visit my demonstrator website to learn more.
