Extreme Surfboard MDS card

sketch on Create With Connie and Mary

I love this sketch for challenge 263 on Create with Connie and Mary and I challenged myself to create a card with this sketch using MDS. I am really excited how the card turned out.

Extreme Surfboard MDS card

How did I get the stamped image cut into four parts? I opened a 4.25 x 5.5 greeting card in MDS. On the first page I added four photo frames and sized them the way the sketch was. Then I grouped them. On the second page of the card, I added the Extreme Surfboard stamp and resized it to fit. Then I saved the second page as a jpeg to my desktop. Next I went back to my grouped photo frames and dragged the second page into the frames. Voila…it was spread out across all the frames. I had fun choosing a greeting to fit the extreme stamp, and added Baker’s Twine for embellishment. I have a thing about naked backgrounds in MDS so I added the chevron overlay and changed the color to Baja Breeze to give a subtle texture to the Pool Party card stock.

I love playing with MDS and challenging myself to recreate traditional cards with MDS. If you are ready to join in the fun of creating with MDS, you have several options for ordering. I have listed them below. Just click on one of them to go to my online store and order. MDS is a great bargain at only $19.95. Included in this bargain is my expertise and tutoring. I am available and ready to help you learn to make exciting digital scrapbook pages and greeting cards.

Halloween Label Thinlit Card

Best of Halloween stamp set  Witches' Brew Designer Series Paper
In this post on Wednesday, I shared a card and a video using the new Label Card Thinlit die. Here is a Halloween version of the flip/flop card the Thinlits die created. I know…it is a little early for Halloween. In fact, my husband’s response when I showed him the card was, “It isn’t even Labor Day yet!” In the same order as the Thinlits die I also received the Best of Halloween stamp set and the Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper and had to play with my new goodies. :o)

There is a trick to adding layers to this card and still have the flip/flop work. I futzed around and got the job done but Mary Brown has an excellent video on how to do it easily. Check her video out.

The Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper is just one of the exciting products found in the new Holiday catalog. If you want a catalog to pour over and make a list and check it twice before placing your order with me, just send me an email with your address, phone number, and best time to call you. I want to have a conversation with you about how you can get the catalog totally FREE!

So Sorry SUDSOL convention swap

So Sorry and Best of Flowers card

Over the next few days I will be sharing some of the swap cards I received at the Stampin’ Up! convention. I participated in one organized swap and swapped out 75 other card fronts I had made for general swapping. This card is the one I  made for the organized swap. I love hydrangeas and was excited to get back the hydrangea stamp that retired a couple of years ago as part of the Best of Flowers stamp set. The smaller size makes it just right for this card.

I used markers to color the image directly on the stamp set then remoistened the ink by ‘huffing’ on the stamp before stamping it on the card stock. I love the Elegant Butterfly and the Bitty Butterfly punches and punching them out from the Champagne Glimmer paper adds a special touch of sparkle to this card.

Another hint I have for you is to stamp your greeting on an angle like I did in the lower corner. That way, you don’t have to worry about getting the stamp straight with the edges of the card. Stamping the greeting on an angle really speeds things up when you are stamping 48 of the same card. :o)

Best of Flowers index

Reminder – The single stamps offer expires July 31! This is a great opportunity to buy just one stamp that suits your fancy instead of having to buy a whole set just for the one stamp you like. Check them out here, then order them while you can still get them! To order the supplies used in this project, visit my online store or click on the linked product names. Thank you for ordering. :o)

Terrific Tuesday – Soho Subway

Subway Soho DSP Digital Card

Yeah, I know…it isn’t Tuesday any longer. On Tuesday I was sitting in a hospital room with Ron waiting and hoping the doctor would come say Ron could go home. It wasn’t until Wednesday that he got released. Then we had to move the trailer to a new RV park that is closer to Seattle and also get my car out of storage. Yesterday was spent with doctor appointments so today is the first day to relax and get back to blogging. You can see ad order this week’s downloads here.

I have resisted buying the Soho Subway dsp from the catalog because I always end up with lots of paper left over. I guess I hoard it, just maybe??? LOL! It is one of the new downloads from last Tuesday and I jumped on the opportunity to have a digital version of the paper.

This card is not my usual style. I was surfing through my punches and saw the arrow punches. The idea for this card suddenly popped into my head and here it is. I had fun choosing the different patterns of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper. I just can’t have a plain card stock background so I added the Natural Composition Overlays – 11 in Basic Gray with a 40% opacity for texture. I love the various designs of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper and think I will order it during Stampin’ Up!’s buy 3 get one free promotion. The promotion has only five more days to go. Order your favorites now!

Innovation is Good

The Stampin’ Up! 25 year celebration at convention is over and almost 7000 demonstrators are now headed home. Rich Judkins, the president and COO of Stampin’ Up! spoke at the closing ceremony about how very important it is to be innovative and how to learn to be that way. Now that I am no longer physically in Craig to be with my card exchange group, we have to be innovative in the way we connect.

Last Wednesday, I was in Pocatello, Idaho, on my way to convention in Salt Lake City. The stampers were meeting in Craig. I had already prepared kits with the card stock all cut and directions for the project. I called Dina on facetime and had a wonderfully fun evening helping them with the project from a lawn chair. Check out these photos.

It is the first time I have taught a workshop remotely. We made this card.

Wildflower Meadow Bundle card

I love this sample using the Wildflower Meadow embossing folder and the coordinating stamp! I made it as one of my convention samples as well. The Pacific Point blue, Whisper White, and Daffodil Delight yellow make such a crisp and clean color combination. Have you purchased the Wildflower Meadow bundle yet? By purchasing the bundle, you save 15% so go order it here.

Supplies:

Wildflower Meadow Bundle (132985-c, 132735-w), Label Love stamp set (130619-w, 130622-c}, Artisan Label Punch (130920), Pacific Point card stock, Daffodil Delight card stock, Whisper White card stock, Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Ink Pad (101731)

Cupcake Punch Birthday Card

Create a Cupcake Punch Birthday CardThe Cupcake punch was perfect for making a birthday card for one of our great-granddaughters. To fussy it up a little and make it girly, I embossed the edge with one of the Delicate Designs embossing folders. A strip of 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon in Gumball Green finishes off the card. Order the supplies to make this card by clicking on the linked supplies below or by visiting my online store.

I leave in the morning from Pocatello, Idaho, to go to convention in Salt Lake City. We discovered taking the bus was much less expensive than Ron driving me down and then driving all the way back and it is a whole lot less driving for him. My bus leaves at 6:35 im the morning. All my swap cards are done and my suitcase is packed. I’ll try to post a couple of times from convention.

Supplies:

Stamps: Whacky Wishes (retired, sorry)

Paper: Pool Party, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight, and Whisper White card stock, scraps of designer series paper

Ink: Gumball Green Classic Ink Pad (126861)

Other: Cupcake punch (121807), Delicate Designs embossing folder (127023), Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon (126848)

Terrific Tuesday – Modern Medley Overlays

Modern Medley Ovrlays card for convention

It’s Terrific Tuesday again and Stampin’ Up! has new digital downloads for us today that are all images from the new 2013-2014 catalog. View and order your favorites here. I have not decided which ones I want to order yet. Instead, I want to share this MDS hybrid card I am swapping at convention.

As you may be guessing by now, I love overlays because they can be used to create an infinite number of backgrounds. Last weekI used the Modern Medley Overlays Kit to create a faux embossed background using the birds design. This week, I chose the flower overlay and changed the color to Whisper White. The Basic Black Timeless Taffeta Trimmings Medium Bow appeared a dark gray when I applied it so I recolored it with Basic Black and came up with the exact color I wanted. I printed out four card fronts to a sheet on Whisper White card stock, cut them apart, and mounted them on the yummy Pistachio Pudding card stock. If you like this card and are at convention this week, look me up and I’ll be happy to swap with you.

Supplies:

MDS software digital download (130646), MDS software disc (130647), or 30-day Free Trial of MDS (130910)

Modern Medley Overlays Kit (134839), Timeless Taffeta Trimmings – medium bow recolored (131329), Get It Done Kit punch 2 (129924)

Pistachio Pudding card stock (131294)

Terrific Tuesday – Modern Medley Overlays

Modern Medley Overlays

What new downloads did you choose to order today? I ordered the Modern Medley Overlays Kit and the Chalk Talk Stamp Brush Set. I have ordered the traditional Chalk Talk stamp set but thought it would be much quicker to print them out with MDS and cut them with the corresponding framelits when making numerous tags.

I ordered the Modern Medley Overlays because I love using overlays to create faux embossing on my backgrounds. The card above shows what the birds overlay looks like when you color it the same as the card stock and the apply a drop shadow. I played around with several different colors of drop shadow but came back to using the default black. Give faux embossing a try. It is easy and this set of overlays is perfect for it.

Fifty Nifty Digital Kit and Modern Medley Overlays

When someone goes on a trip like we are taking, it is appropriate to send postcards to our family and friends. So I created this postcard for you. I used the Fifty Nifty Kit for the Oregon punch and filled it with Delight in the Day designer series paper – 1. I added another of the Modern Medley Overlays to the background and reduced the opacity to just 20%. Again, it looks almost like dry embossing. Come back tomorrow to see where we will spend tomorrow night!

Supplies:

MDS software digital download (130646), MDS software disc (130647), or 30-day Free Trial of MDS (130910)

Modern Medley Overlays Kit (134839), Chalk Talk Stamp Brush Set (134800), Fifty Nifty Kit (130059), Delight in the Day Photobook Template (127758)
